Another updated tutorial! I have learnt so much since originally writing this one including how to take better photos!
This kindle pouch is big enough for the E-readers but can still be used for the newer ones with room for a cord.
It features a cute strap!

Lets get started!
Cut (1) 7 ½” x 19” exterior fabric
Cut (1) 7 ½” x 19” lining fabric
Cut (1) 7 ½” x 19” fusible fleece
for the strap
Cut (1) 2”x 3” exterior fabric
Cut (1) 2″ x 13″ exterior fabric
You’ll need also
(1) zipper bigger than 10”
(1) 3/4″ Swivel clip
Iron the fusible fleece it to the back side lining fabric. If you wanted it extra cushion for your kindle you could cut two pieces and attach one to the exterior fabric and one to the lining fabric.
Prepare the tab and the strap.
Fold in wrong sides together half long ways. Press.
Unfold then fold edges in to centre. Press.
Fold these together (in half again) Press.
For the Smaller tab piece
Stitch a line 1/8” down each side.
For the strap put the swivel clip on the folded strap piece.
Open up the folds and place the raw edges right sides together with a 1/4″ seam.
Press open the seam and then refold the strap piece.
Top stitch 1/8″ away from the edges all the way around. Once top stitched press together and stitch close to the swivel clip.
Place these to the side and lets make the pouch.
Sandwich one short edge of the exterior fabric piece and one short edge of the lining fabric piece with the zip edge in between to attach the zip to one side. you want the zipper pull side (right side) facing the right side of the exterior fabric.
I’ve said to use a bigger zip so you don’t have to sew around the zipper pull.
Do the same for the other short edges of the exterior and lining pieces and the other side of the zip.
Unzip to flip the fabric the right side out. Top Stitch 1/8″ away from the zip. Do this carefully to ensure you are sewing only through the exterior and lining and not the whole pouch.
Ensure the zipper pull is in the middle of your case.
Turn the pouch in so that the lining is facing out.
Place the zip 1.5″ down from the top. and press.
Pin the tab piece folded in half raw side touching the raw edge of where the zipper edge is.
Pin or clip the two long sides in place before sewing them with a 1/2″ seam allowance.
Finish off the raw edges with a zig zag stitch, overlocker or bias tape.
Turn right sided out and clip the swivel clip to the tab piece.
