Because i’m not busy enough… i want to sew some tops for summer. Not just some but 5 different top patterns in 5 different fabrics (or more) in 5 weeks.
I am going to challenge myself. I’m beginning this week with my list of patterns, and a trip to the fabric store!
WAHHH i have to take my measurements because i’ve gained a bit of winter (cough… chocolate… cough) weight…
I’m not saying it will take me 1 week to sew each top. It’s just that i’m a busy working mum and i’ll be giving myself a few evenings or nap times to finish the top, photograph and write about it! Woo Challenge!
So to the Patterns, most i have had in my pattern stash but just have not tried yet.
Bess Top – imaginegnats
Everyday Elegance – Patterns to Pirates
Tortola top – Sis Boom
Washi top/dress– Made by Rae
It’s actually quite interesting to see how much these tops will be costing me to make!
The trip to the fabric store was rewarding and i found my fabrics within 10 minutes…What! they are all rayon. I love rayon for tops as it’s so flowy and i did look at all the other fabrics but i just went straight back to rayon!
This is a sneak peak at the fabrics. I chose florals.. something new! the bottom one is really interesting and it may not suit me… but again it’s a challenge.
I actually bought way too much fabric. i bought 2 1/2 metres because i wrote it in yards and didn’t think with all the fabric purchasing excitement to change it to metres. So i may be able to squeeze in an extra top or two.
so 5 fabrics, 2 1/2 metres of each and it was buy 2 get 1 free at textile traders.
I did buy other fabric (of course) and didn’t count that.
It came to $99. Thats just under $20 a top in fabric. Pretty GOOD.
Everything else like shirring elastic for the washi top, buttons for the Everyday elegance, Bias tape and of course thread i’m using from my stash.
I will cut and prepare each project one at a time.
I can’t wait to start sewing!
