The best part of online sewing classes is you can revisit the class you need when you need it and you also have communities involved in the classes to discuss sewing with. Most websites have forums or they have Facebook groups you can join.
Another great feature of online sewing classes is that they have Free Trials and then usually you can also find good deals! I have trialled some courses on the biggest sewing class websites Craftsy, creativebug and skillshare. They are all very good quality video and the teachers are very good.
Creativebug has great targeted classes that can teach overall skills that follow particular patterns. Creativebug gives you access to all of the classes and on the free trial you get 1 free class to keep. I’m a member and love it!
Craftsy provides beginner classes with patterns included. The classes are really well filmed and Craftsy has a lot of free patterns to continue learning and practising after your course. It also allows you to share your creations with people in the classes.
Skillshare is quite new but has some great classes for beginners and more detailed designing classes. The classes are quite structured and give a good insight into the subjects. It’s a really easy to use website.
Burdastyle Academy: burdastyle is a large pattern maker and now has it’s own academy with a lot of different sewing courses. This site has so many great courses on everything sewing related. It also has great sew alongs.
Sew School by the habby Goddess is a 6 week basic sewing course with additional PDF projects. This course really gives an overall view of sewing and gives you the skills to complete harder projects over time.
If your wanting to turn your designs into digital patterns for yourself or to develop and sell check out the PATTERN WORKSHOP. It’s a great course to invest in. The classes are really structured to give you the tools you need as well as providing some awesome tips.Lauren also has a group on facebook for designers that has even more information for future designing.
