I’ve just given this tutorial a bit of a facelift!
These gift card pouches are so cute and and a bit more personal that a gift card on it’s own.
The best thing about these is you can use scraps!
(2) 3 ¼ “x 4 ½” pieces of your exterior fabric
(1) 3 ¼” x 3 ¾ “piece of your pocket fabric
(1) 3 ¼ “x 4 ½” piece of thin fusible fleece
You can use ribbon or cut an extra 1 1/2″ x 5″ piece for the top loop.
Iron on Fleece to the back of one of the exterior fabric pieces.
Fold down the top (short side) of the pocket piece a ¼ inch press with iron then fold down another ¼ inch and pin.
Top stitch along this hem.
If your wanting a top loop take fold long edges right sides together, open and fold each edge into the centre.
Fold in half again and sew an edge stitch.
Fold put the raw edges together at the top centre of the exterior piece with fleece on the back.
Baste stitch the loop in place.
Place your pocket right side up on the exterior piece that has the fleece on the back of it and place the other piece on top.
The with right sides will the touching.
Sew ¼ inch seam around it leaving a small hole in one of the long sides. Clip the corners.
Turn it out the right way. Fold in the hole and press well.
Top stitch the whole way around closing the hole.
I hope you enjoyed this quick easy tutorial!
