I wanted to share this scrap busting magnetic pen holder and bookmark in one, as it's quick and easy and very handy indeed!
I searched everywhere for a journal i loved. I couldn't spent the $50 + it cost for a very fancy one with a pen holder. So I got this lovely one from typo instead.
I searched for a magnetic pen holder and i didn't love any that much! So I came up with this lovely! We get so many advertisement fridge magnets in our letter box and if we don't need them i try to come up with other uses. This is perfect for that or you can use sew in magnets which are way stronger!
You'll need:
1 fridge magnet (medium thickness) or sew in magnets fabric scraps.
Cut two pieces 1"x 1 1/2" of the magnet
Cut 2 pieces of fabric 2 1/2 x 5"
Sew 1/4" around and leave a hole along one of the long sides. Clip the corners.
Turn out and point the corners, press. Put in the magnets through the hole and push each one to each side. Ensure the magnets are both the right side up so that when you fold the the bookmark in half they will stick together.
Top stitch around, closing up the hole. Make sure you don't sew over the magnets
