Cornhole or bean bag toss is a fun game for kids and adult alike. sometimes the beanbags are made flat but i love these pyramid type shape as they fit nicely in the hand. I have used this size for Cornhole and made a smaller size for pattern weights with a weight inside.
These bags are made with medium weight fabric such as drill and canvas because they will be well used. You can use quilting weight fabric however you may want to interface the fabric so they will last longer.
I have filled these with Brown rice because it's what i have on hand however you can use Dried Beans or dried corn (hence the name).
So to make these fun Cornhole bags you will need:
- 2 Fat Quarters
- Filler
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
Cut your 2 pieces of fabric (i've got two different fabrics) 4.5" x 4.5" or to your desired size.
Place the 2 fabric pieces right sides together and stitch on 3 sides with a 1/4" seam allowance. Clip the corners being careful not to cut through the stitching
Place the open side, side seams nested together. Stitch just over half way across leaving a hole for turning.
Turn the bag right side out and fold in the turning hole 1/4".
Fill the bag to the desired weight with rice or beans. I made a paper funnel so i didn't spill rice everywhere.
Ensure you don't over fill the bag so you can easily stitch up the open side with a 1/8" edge stitch.
These are so easy and fun to make and take minutes. The kids will love playing with these.
