This months sewing challenge was to use a new sewing technique. It's not so new but i have not made anything with applique in so long and i didn't even have any heat and bond to use on this project, which is what i would normally use on applique projects.
I created this applique glasses case using glasses SVG file available in the shop and the glasses case pouch pattern in the Cork Duo PDF sewing pattern also available in my shop. The glasses case is created this using the fabric size case pattern piece.
I used fabric glue to hold the glasses while i stitched it. Some would call this doodle stitching, going over and over the stitches. The fabric will fray a bit as the piece has unfinished edges, i love this handmade look. I used batting rather than fusible fleece as i am using up scraps before buying a large amount for my quilt.
The fabric i used is Adorn by Rashida Coleman Hale by Ruby Start society. It's so striking and bright. I have been a big fan of Rashida Coleman Hale since i designed my BG bag with her fabric Koi for Cloud 9. All her fabric is dreamy!
I hope you give this scrap busting project a go, it was so fun and you can put the glasses on any project, pouch or bag! Sew fun! If you use this SVG file and make some glasses cases like mine share with me on socials using the #loreleijayne
