Wristlet Strap Sewing Tutorial

This wristlet strap can be added to any pouch that you make. My favourite is the Anne Pouch. Wristlet straps can really take a pouch to a professional level, turn a pouch into a clutch and depending on fabric can take a pouch from day to night!

Making my wristlet strap you will need 2 Hardware notions. In my tutorial i have used 12mm or 1/2" hardware. however if you have bigger you just need to work out the sizing of your strap and D ring.

I like my wristlets to be thin on smaller pouches and larger on bigger pouches.

You'll need:

1 x D Ring
1 x swivel clip

You'll need to cut your fabric 4 x your finished wristlet strap width x 13". As i am using a 1/2" hardware i cut my wristlet strap 2" x 13".

You'll also need to cut the same in fusible Interfacing, fuse this to the wrong side of the wristlet strap using the manufacturer's instructions.

Cut a D ring Tab 2" (or 4 x the width of finished strap x 2" )

Lets get started.

Thread the strap piece through the swivel clip. Place the small sides right sides together and and and sew 1/4” from the raw edges. Press the seam open. Refold the strap and edge stitch along each side moving the clip as you sew. Stitch a line 1/2” away from the clip or use a rivet to secure.
