Thin Pencil Case Tutorial

Thin Pencil Case

As always my tutorials come from some need.. if not by me then my friends and family. A friend told me how her daughter wanted this really expensive pencil case that was “nothing special” and not handmade and wouldn’t even fit that many pencils in it. I being a huge stationary lover can understand it doesn’t have to be that useful… just a little useful and cute! So i thought i would take what she described “a thin pencil case” and interoperate that into cuteness and a tutorial for said cuteness. It’s useful too because this pencil case fits a few […]

Which Fabric?

I adore fabric, it’s so nice to go into my local fabric store and look at the pretty fabrics and touch the different textures. As we all do, i start to wonder, what could i make this with that cotton?, maybe a lovely top from that rayon and a great dress with that sateen. Mostly it goes into the STASH! But how do you know what to use for what project? Before starting a project or pattern, Read the pattern carefully as they indicate what fabrics are best suited. Feel the fabric. think about the weight and use of the […]

Quick Window Covering – Tutorial

The neighbours house got knocked down and with it, all the lush plants and trees growing on the property which acted as the perfect screen between our laundry and their house. Now the far away neighbours can see right in! Don’t you love the collection on the sill, soaker’s, floor cleaner, measuring cup, a bobby pin (of course) coins and a tiny teddy (thanks kids!) I have had very little time to make house stuff (curtains and cushions) and totally no time to choose a fabric and pick a type of curtain AND it’s a laundry, nothing special needed. Searched […]

Handbags, Fashion and Me

I am not really fashionable at all. I’m a dag (aussie slang) really and just wear what i can afford, is comfortable and suitable for the occasion. I don’t spend hundreds on ANYTHING. Including shoes and handbags. I do like to look good but rarely am i the best dressed in the room. I don’t own anything designer that wasn’t bought from an opshop. I consider myself somewhat frugal. I recently wore a handmade dress to a wedding and felt very comfortable. I don’t tend to spend a lot on clothes and still get some hand me downs from my […]
