Every clutch, pouch or purse is even better with a few pockets and i want to show you a super easy card pocket!
I've been working on a new pouch pattern to come out in 2 weeks and i really wanted a card purse in one i have made for a friend.
I didn't want to have to reinvent the wheel so this tutorial uses my super easy Cute Card and Coin Purse pattern to make the pocket!
You'll need the Cute Card and coin purse Pattern pieces you can download them HERE.
Fabric and light - medium weight fusible interfacing.
Cut out your pattern pieces and fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of both pieces.
Use a marking tool (air or water soluble pen) to mark the fold markings on the card holder piece.
Fold the card piece accordion style as indicated on the pattern, from the bottom wrong sides together on the fold line (Marked lines), then right sides together and wrong sides then right sides together.
Press once you have it how you like it and Top stitch the card slots.
Baste stitch the card slots down 1/4″ from the side edges.
Place the lining piece on top and stitch around it with a 1/2" seam allowance leaving a turning hole at the bottom.
Clip the corners and trim the seam being careful not to cut into the stitching.
Carefully turn the pocket right side out through the hole you left. Press closed the turning hole, Press the pocket well.
Stitch to your lining of your bag or pouch with a 1/8" seam allowance. You can stitch all the way around like me. or leave the top open to make an extra little pocket.
You could also make more pockets with the widened version and leave it open at the top to fit your phone in!
I have used this pocket on Anne Pouches and in Tully Clutches.
